Multiple Trains Cancelled in Madhya Pradesh Due to Railway Repair Works
Several passenger trains passing through Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal Division will remain cancelled in early June due to non-interlocking work being undertaken by IRCON at Jhalwara station under the South East Central Railway (SECR).
The work is being carried out to connect the Katni Grade Separator Line (Katni-Mudwara) with a tie-line toward Singrauli. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria confirmed that the cancellations will impact both long-distance and regional trains. The Bilaspur–Bhopal Express (18236) will be cancelled from June 1 to June 7, 2025, while its return service, the Bhopal–Bilaspur Express (18235), will be cancelled from June 3 to June 9, 2025.
In addition, the Durg–Ajmer Express (18213) and the Ajmer–Durg Express (18214) will remain cancelled on June 1 and June 2, 2025, respectively. Meanwhile, West Central Railway has also announced the cancellation of the Itarsi–Katni–Itarsi MEMU service from May 27 to May 30, 2025, due to a separate three-hour block being imposed for repair work at Jabalpur Railway Station. This will affect MEMU trains 61617 (Itarsi–Katni) and 61618 (Katni–Itarsi), both of which will not operate on these dates. The railways have stated that these infrastructure upgrades are essential for improving rail connectivity and passenger convenience in the long run.
Efforts are underway to complete the works at the earliest and minimise inconvenience to travellers. Passengers are advised to check the status of their trains and plan accordingly.
