MPIDC Acquires 400 Hectares to Develop Vikram Udyogpuri Phase 2, Boosting Industrial Growth

Madhya Pradesh is forging ahead with its industrial growth ambitions as the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) acquires over 400 hectares of private land for the development of Phase 2 of the Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area in Ujjain. This acquisition will help ease the growing demand for industrial space in the region, as the current facility is nearing full capacity. With a vision to attract new investments and create employment opportunities, this expansion is set to play a pivotal role in Madhya Pradesh’s economic future.

Vikram Udyogpuri, spanning 458 hectares, has already seen significant success, with over 58 industries setting up operations. Many of these companies are already in the trial and production phases, and collectively, they have committed more than Rs 5000 crore in investments. Among the prominent companies securing space in the industrial park are PepsiCo India, Amul, Ashirvad Pipes, and Symbiotic Life, all of which signal the region’s growing potential as an investment hub. Rajesh Rathod, the executive director of MPIDC in Ujjain, highlighted the need for Phase 2 of Vikram Udyogpuri due to the overwhelming interest from industries eager to set up operations in the area. “Given the interest from investors, we have decided to move forward with Phase 2, ensuring that we can accommodate the growing number of investment proposals,” Rathod said. The new phase is expected to further support industries in a wide range of sectors, providing them with the infrastructure and resources needed to thrive.

A key milestone of Vikram Udyogpuri’s ongoing development has been the successful installation of a 5.2 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CEPT), costing over Rs 24 crore. This addition is part of the MPIDC’s broader efforts to enhance the industrial ecosystem and ensure that the region remains environmentally responsible. The projected effluent generation from industries is approximately 3-4 MLD, so the CEPT is a crucial step in managing industrial waste and contributing to sustainability. The expansion is not just about infrastructure; it also underscores the government’s focus on creating a conducive environment for businesses. The project has attracted substantial investments, with MPIDC receiving nearly 200 proposals from companies across various industries, requiring around 121 hectares of land. These investments reflect the growing confidence in the region’s industrial prospects.

Looking ahead, the state government plans to showcase Vikram Udyogpuri’s Phase 2 to global investors at the Investors’ Summit 2025 in Bhopal, scheduled for February. This event will provide a platform for industries to explore the diverse opportunities in Madhya Pradesh, further cementing its position as an industrial powerhouse in central India. In the broader context, MPIDC’s acquisition of land for Vikram Udyogpuri Phase 2 is a key milestone in Madhya Pradesh’s journey towards becoming a major industrial hub. By continually improving infrastructure, attracting global businesses, and promoting sustainable practices, the state is poised for robust economic growth, creating jobs and boosting its industrial output in the process. The expansion of Vikram Udyogpuri is a perfect example of how strategic development can pave the way for a prosperous future.
