MP Reviews Belagavi Key Central Development Projects
Lok Sabha MP Jagadish Shettar held a high-level review meeting to assess the status of major Central Government infrastructure projects in the Belagavi constituency.
The meeting, attended by the District Collector and officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), South Western Railway, and Civil Aviation, focused on expediting key road and rail developments. Among the projects discussed was the Belagavi Ring Road/Bypass, where Shettar urged officials to accelerate land acquisition efforts, particularly between Honaga and Jadashahapur. The Halaga–Mache 9 km stretch was also flagged for timely execution. Further, the 43 km Shegunamatti–Hungund–Raichur route was reviewed with emphasis on avoiding land-related delays.
A new flyover along the Sankam Hotel route in Belagavi city was also examined. Officials were directed to ensure uninterrupted work once construction begins to avoid public inconvenience and maintain deadlines. On the railways front, the proposed Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad railway line, which demands the acquisition of nearly 1,200 acres, was a key agenda item. Authorities were instructed to ensure prompt compensation to affected farmers and landowners to facilitate smoother execution.
The review also included inputs from the Revenue and Infrastructure Departments and representatives of Belagavi Airport, highlighting inter-departmental coordination in driving regional infrastructure growth.
