Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects exceeding ₹7,000 crore in Motihari, East Champaran, signalling a new era of development for Eastern India. These initiatives underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming Bihar, promising to directly benefit millions across the region and accelerate its journey towards sustainable economic growth and enhanced social equity.
The comprehensive portfolio of projects spans diverse critical sectors, including oil and gas, railways, national highways, sanitation, rural development, and higher education. A significant highlight is the dedication of Indian Oil Corporation’s second-generation ethanol plant at Barauni. This initiative is a pivotal step towards bolstering the biofuel sector, directly supporting farmers, and enhancing energy self-reliance, thereby contributing to a greener energy mix and reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional fuels.
Prime Minister Modi emphasised that these infrastructure improvements are set to attract substantial investment and create widespread employment opportunities, challenging the historical perception of Eastern India as economically backward. The new railway line and road projects, including stretches of NH-139W and NH-227J, are specifically designed to improve connectivity across north Bihar. Enhanced infrastructure is fundamental for streamlining logistics, fostering industrial growth, and ensuring efficient movement of goods and people, all crucial for sustainable urban and rural development.
Beyond large-scale infrastructure, the government’s focus extends to grassroots welfare, aiming to deliver tangible benefits directly to citizens.
