Monsoon Set to Soak Rajasthan from June 26-28: Meteorological Forecast

JAIPUR: The Jaipur Meteorological Office has projected the onset of southwest monsoon in Rajasthan between June 26 and June 28, signalling relief from the scorching heat as pre-monsoon showers escalate humidity levels across the state. Anticipated to enter via Kota, Jhalawar, and Baran districts, this year’s monsoon has been delayed by nearly a week, prompting varied weather patterns and heightened precipitation prospects.

Jaipur recently experienced warmer-than-usual morning temperatures, recording a minimum of 29.6 degrees Celsius, with afternoon highs reaching 39.2°C despite sporadic rainfall. Evening skies cleared, marking a transition into monsoon anticipation amidst meteorological projections. “The southwest monsoon is expected to be above average in Rajasthan this year,” affirmed meteorologists, highlighting predictions of moderate to heavy rainfall across numerous districts including Kota, Jhalawar, Baran, Sirohi, Udaipur, Dungarpur, and Banswara. These forecasts underscore the region’s preparation for potential weather fluctuations and agricultural impacts during the upcoming season.

Over the next 24 hours, Jaipur and surrounding divisions including Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota are likely to witness partially cloudy conditions with intermittent showers, indicative of the transitioning weather patterns characteristic of impending monsoon onset. Recent rainfall data from various districts underscores the diverse precipitation trends prevalent in Rajasthan. Fatehpur (Jaisalmer) topped with 33.0 mm, followed closely by Galiyakot (Dungarpur) at 32.0 mm, and significant showers reported in Bagidora (Banswara), Mahwa (Dausa), Pratapgarh, Nagar (Bharatpur), Dhambola (Dungarpur), and Sajjangarh (Dungarpur). Additional districts like Udaipur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Sirohi, and Bharatpur also observed varying levels of rainfall, ranging from 15.0 mm to 5 mm, further underlining the regional diversity in weather patterns. As Rajasthan prepares for the imminent monsoon season, stakeholders across sectors are bracing for potential impacts on agriculture, infrastructure, and water management strategies. The timely forecast serves as a crucial guide for residents and authorities alike, navigating through anticipated weather dynamics in the weeks ahead.
