The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has reintroduced six crucial tenders aimed at bolstering connectivity to Thane through expansive infrastructure projects. Originally slated before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and subsequently cancelled due to technical deficiencies, these tenders have now been reissued with modifications to address previous shortcomings.
An official from MMRDA cited that the revisions primarily focused on rectifying technical flaws, with a notable adjustment being the reduction of the defect liability period from five years to two years. This adjustment aims to streamline project timelines and enhance accountability in construction and maintenance phases. The projects encompass a diverse range of initiatives designed to transform Thane’s connectivity landscape. They include the Thane Coastal Road, Ghodbunder Road Bypass, D.P. Road Construction, Extension of Eastern Express Highway, and various creek bridge constructions, all strategically located to alleviate traffic congestion and improve regional transit efficiency. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled at MMRDA’s BKC office, facilitating stakeholder engagement and clarifying bid specifications before the submission deadline on July 12 at 5 PM. Construction durations vary across projects, with timelines carefully planned to account for environmental clearances and seasonal considerations, notably the monsoon season. Projects range from 30 to 48 months for completion, ensuring comprehensive adherence to regulatory approvals and quality standards.
