Minnesota to Drip in Soaking Rains and Wind Chill on Tuesday

Minnesota is set to experience an unseasonably cold and wet Tuesday as a storm system moves through the region, bringing soaking rain, strong winds, and below-average temperatures across the state.

Steady rainfall is expected throughout Tuesday morning and early afternoon, with 1.5 to 3 inches likely along and south of the I-94 corridor, including the Twin Cities metro. The persistent downpour will taper into intermittent showers by late afternoon and continue into Wednesday. In addition to the rain, the state will be lashed by strong easterly winds blowing at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, intensifying the chill.

Temperatures will struggle to rise, with daytime highs in the mid-40s across the state. The Twin Cities is forecast to reach only 46°F—well below seasonal averages. While Wednesday is expected to be less rainy, scattered showers will still linger throughout the day. The mercury will climb slightly, with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Relief is on the horizon as Thursday promises drier skies, warmer temperatures in the 60s, and more sunshine—conditions likely to persist into the upcoming holiday weekend.
