Meerut South RRTS Station Commences Passenger Services

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has announced the commencement of passenger operations at the newly opened Meerut South RRTS station. This latest addition, an eight-kilometre stretch, expands the operational reach of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor to 42 kilometres, linking nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.

The newly inaugurated Meerut South station will be served by the Namo Bharat trains, running daily from 6 am to 10 pm. The schedule ensures frequent services with the first train departing at 6 am and the last train leaving both termini—Sahibabad and Meerut South—at 10 pm. The one-way fare for standard class travel is set at Rs 110 from Sahibabad to Meerut South and Rs 90 from Ghaziabad to Meerut South.

The Meerut South RRTS station stands out for its extensive parking facilities, touted as the largest along the RRTS corridor in Uttar Pradesh. Spanning approximately 13,000 square metres, the two parking lots flanking the station’s entry/exit are capable of accommodating around 1,200 vehicles, including both four-wheelers and two-wheelers. In addition, dedicated parking for auto-rickshaws and streamlined access for passenger vehicles from Meerut and Delhi are integral features designed to enhance commuter convenience.

Accessibility is a key focus, with the station equipped with designated parking areas and ramps for passengers with disabilities, ensuring seamless integration with the Namo Bharat train services. The station serves as a crucial node for commuters from Mohiuddinpur, Bhudbaral, Bahadurpur, Aminagar, Chhajjupur, Kharkhoda, Kadarabad, and adjacent regions, facilitating a swift 30-minute journey to Sahibabad.

Incorporating local metro services, the station features three tracks—two dedicated to RRTS trains and one for metro operations—across three platforms. The station’s infrastructure includes ground, mezzanine, concourse, and platform levels, stretching approximately 215 metres in length, 36 metres in width, and 22 metres in height.

Looking ahead, the full 82-kilometre length of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is projected to be operational by June 2025, promising enhanced connectivity and reduced travel times for the region.
