Mayur Nature Park Project Approved by DDA,

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to commence work on Mayur Nature Park, envisioned as the largest green space along the Yamuna riverbanks. Spanning approximately 370 hectares between Nizamuddin Bridge (NH-24) and the DND Flyway, this initiative is a pivotal component of the DDA’s broader Yamuna Floodplain Restoration project. The park’s development is expected to significantly enhance Delhi’s ecological and recreational landscape.

This project is one of ten planned or existing developments along the Yamuna floodplains, reflecting the DDA’s commitment to revitalizing the river’s ecosystem. The Mayur Nature Park aims to restore the river’s floodplains, addressing pollution concerns that were prominent during recent electoral discussions. The DDA has approved the project’s initiation, with an estimated budget of ₹136 crore. The park’s design includes the creation of new wetlands and water bodies, restoration of existing ones, and the construction of walkways, cycle tracks, eco-trails, floodplain forests, grasslands, open congregational spaces, play areas, and the redevelopment of ghats with viewing platforms.
Additionally, a 30-acre eco-tourism area is planned to promote sustainable tourism and environmental education. This development aligns with the DDA’s broader vision for the Yamuna riverfront, which includes projects like Asita East, Kalindi Aviral, Kalindi Biodiversity Park, Asita West, Amrut Biodiversity Park, Ghat area, Yamuna Vanasthali, Eco-tourism area, and Hindon Sarovar. These initiatives collectively aim to transform the 22 km stretch of the Yamuna into a vibrant recreational and ecological zone, enhancing the quality of life for Delhi’s residents.
The development of Mayur Nature Park is expected to provide residents and visitors with enhanced recreational opportunities, improved air quality, and a revitalized natural habitat. As work progresses, the DDA’s efforts will be closely monitored to ensure that the project meets its objectives of ecological restoration and community enrichment.
