The ceremony marked the unveiling of the northbound carriageway spanning 6.25 kilometres from Marine Drive to Haji Ali, slashing travel time between these iconic landmarks from nearly an hour to a mere eight minutes. Under the watchful gaze of city dwellers and officials alike, motorists were granted access to the newly opened segment after 4 pm, signalling the commencement of a transformative journey towards enhanced connectivity and efficiency. The seamless integration of the Coastal Road into Mumbai’s transportation network represents a triumph over delays and challenges that beset the Rs 13,984 crore project, which embarked on its ambitious trajectory in December 2018. With an eye towards ensuring optimal functionality and safety, traffic on the newly opened section will be regulated between 7 am and 11 pm from Monday to Friday, offering commuters a streamlined pathway to their destinations. Furthermore, the imminent opening of the northbound carriageway extension from Haji Ali to Worli in July underscores the project’s commitment to comprehensive connectivity and accessibility.
