Maharashtra has reported a total of 369 COVID-19 cases since January 2025, with 278 active cases currently under monitoring, according to an official health bulletin released on Monday.
The state reported 69 new cases in the past 24 hours, prompting health authorities to step up surveillance and testing efforts. Mumbai remains the highest contributor with 37 fresh cases, followed by Thane (12), Navi Mumbai (7), Pune (3), Latur (1), Raigad (1), and Kolhapur (1). Since the start of the year, a total of 7,830 samples have been tested, out of which 369 returned positive. Among the reported cases, 285 individuals have recovered, while four deaths have been confirmed as COVID-positive. Officials stated that while the numbers remain relatively low, precautionary measures are being reinforced to prevent further spread.
In Pune, two cases were detected on Sunday and one under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Monday. All patients reportedly exhibited mild symptoms, and no hospitalizations were required. Health officials reiterated the importance of maintaining COVID-appropriate behaviour, especially for senior citizens and those with co-morbidities. The state continues to monitor clusters closely and conduct targeted testing where required. Experts have noted that the current strain of the virus is relatively mild, with no new variants of concern identified. However, they emphasise the need for continued vigilance and adherence to safety protocols to prevent a resurgence of cases.
As the state approaches the monsoon season, health authorities are preparing for potential challenges posed by increased rainfall and the possibility of flooding, which can exacerbate the spread of infectious diseases. Measures are being implemented to ensure that healthcare facilities are equipped to handle any surge in cases. Residents are urged to stay informed through official channels and to follow guidelines issued by health authorities to protect themselves and their communities.
