Maharashtra’s Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is poised for a significant boost in industrial growth and skill enhancement with the impending establishment of a 20,000 sq. ft. Skill Development Centre. This collaborative initiative, in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is expected to be formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing next week. The announcement follows a recent high-level visit by a senior government official to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, aimed at reviewing the progress of industrial infrastructure and startup ecosystem development in the region.
During the visit, emphasis was placed on attracting Global Capability Centre (GCC) investments and fostering Research & Development (R&D) centres within AURIC to further strengthen its innovation and industrial landscape. Stakeholders presented a range of recommendations for comprehensive development, including enhanced connectivity to major cities, the establishment of an MRO facility and Vande Bharat terminal, improved logistics, and local train services. Calls were also made for increased land reservation for MSMEs and startups, alongside initiatives for affordable housing.
The official’s engagements included interactions with budding entrepreneurs at the Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC), where the government’s strong support for startups, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, was highlighted. Inspections of key industrial units and infrastructure sites at both Bidkin and Shendra Industrial Areas showcased their contribution to high-value manufacturing and employment generation, aligning with national development goals. This proactive collaboration between government and industry is deemed essential for positioning Maharashtra as a global manufacturing and innovation hub.
This strategic investment in skill development and infrastructure at AURIC underlines a commitment to fostering a sustainable and equitable industrial ecosystem. By enhancing local capabilities and promoting green technologies, such initiatives contribute to resilient economic growth. This integrated approach ensures the region’s long-term prosperity and social upliftment.
