The Maharashtra government has approved a significant subsidy for air travel between Solapur, Pune, and Mumbai. A budget of approximately ₹18 crore has been sanctioned to provide a per-seat subsidy, aiming to make these routes more accessible and affordable for the general public. The official directive outlines a plan to provide a subsidy of ₹3,240 per seat for a one-year period. This viability gap funding (VGF) model is a crucial mechanism for making flights on these routes financially viable for the operating airline.
