Madhya Pradesh Faces Flood Chaos As Dhuandhar Falls Submerges And Jabalpur Narsinghpur Highway Shuts Down

Madhya Pradesh is reeling under heavy rainfall-induced chaos as the famed Dhuandhar Falls in Jabalpur has submerged completely and the vital Jabalpur–Narsinghpur National Highway stands cut off due to rising floodwaters from the Narmada River. Following torrential rainfall across Satpura and Surja regions, 17 sluice gates of the Bargi Dam were opened, releasing 2.92 lakh cusecs of water into the Narmada, triggering a flood-like situation across districts.

With water flowing three feet above the road level, the Jhansighat bridge—an essential link between Jabalpur and Narsinghpur—has been submerged, halting all vehicular movement and stranding traffic on both ends. The situation has disrupted not only transportation but also tourism in the region. The Dhuandhar Falls, known for its misty spray and roaring descent, has vanished under the swollen river, and the access roads to the site have also gone underwater.

Authorities have issued advisories warning residents and tourists to stay away from riverbanks and waterlogged areas as a precautionary measure. With rising water levels and continuous rain, the region remains on high alert for further escalation of the situation.
