Lucknows Gomti Nagar Becomes Hub For New Amrit Bharat Express Trains

Lucknow, the city’s Gomti Nagar Railway Station has become a significant hub for new Amrit Bharat Express trains, with two services officially launched by the Prime Minister on July 18. These trains aim to provide faster, cheaper, and more comfortable travel options for the common person, connecting key cities. One service will run to Malda Town in West Bengal, and another to Darbhanga in Bihar, significantly boosting regional connectivity and modernizing railway services for the masses.

Uttar Pradesh, two new Amrit Bharat Express trains will operate from Gomti Nagar Railway Station in Lucknow, following their official launch. One of the services connects to Malda Town in West Bengal, and the other to Darbhanga in Bihar. Additionally, a third train, also flagged off, will run from Motihari in Bihar to Delhi Anand Vihar Terminal, passing through Lucknow. Initially, all three services will operate once a week, with plans for increased frequency based on public demand. Each train will maintain a maximum speed of 130 kmph and consist of 22 coaches in sleeper and general class configurations, with modern designs including facilities for differently-abled passengers.

The Malda Town-Gomti Nagar Express will depart Malda every Thursday at 7:25 PM, arriving in Gomti Nagar by Friday afternoon at 3:40 PM. The return journey will commence Friday evening at 6:40 PM and conclude in Malda by Saturday evening. Key stops for this service include New Farakka, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Varanasi, and Ayodhya Cantt.

The Darbhanga–Gomti Nagar Express, with train number 15561, will depart every Saturday at 3:00 PM, arriving in Gomti Nagar by Sunday at 5:35 AM. Its return train (15562) will leave Gomti Nagar on Sunday at 8:15 AM and reach Darbhanga by 12:35 AM the next day. This service will make halts at over 15 stations, including Raxaul, Gorakhpur, and Ayodhya Dham. The Motihari-Anand Vihar Express began operations as a special train on July 18, departing Motihari at 11:45 AM and reaching Lucknow at 11:35 PM, before continuing to Delhi the next morning. Gomti Nagar Station currently manages six originating trains and ten others that stop there, including a Vande Bharat Express to Patna.

Across Uttar Pradesh, the introduction of these new Amrit Bharat Express services from Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar signifies a notable upgrade in regional rail infrastructure. These trains will provide essential, affordable connectivity for a wide range of passengers, enhancing travel options and catering to high-demand corridors across the state and beyond.
