Officials note that the new service is part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to replace older trains with modern, energy-efficient options, supporting sustainable and low-carbon travel solutions. By expanding the Vande Bharat network, the Railways aims to improve connectivity between major urban centres while encouraging eco-friendly transportation. The Lucknow-Mumbai route is expected to become a benchmark for other high-speed services in India.Beyond comfort, the train’s strategic scheduling aims to integrate with existing services while minimising disruptions. Passengers are advised to anticipate service adjustments due to maintenance work at Lucknow’s Amausi Yard between October 8 and 9. Several trains will either be rerouted or temporarily canceled, and updates will be communicated via official railway channels to ensure smooth passenger experience.
The introduction of Sleeper Vande Bharat Express is expected to enhance passenger flexibility, offering multiple classes of service for varied budgets. Experts highlight that this train exemplifies a modernised rail network capable of competing with air travel in both efficiency and comfort, reflecting Indian Railways’ commitment to sustainable urban mobility. The project also aligns with government objectives to promote equitable and gender-neutral transport options, ensuring safe, accessible, and environmentally responsible travel. With continued investments in high-speed rail corridors, the Vande Bharat expansion marks a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward world-class railway services. As Indian Railways continues to roll out advanced services across multiple routes, passengers can anticipate a transformative travel experience that combines speed, comfort, and sustainability, strengthening connectivity between key economic and cultural hubs of the country.
