Lucknow Metro Hassle-free Transport Reshaping the City

The realisation of Lucknow’s Metro dream has not only become a trusted means of conveyance but has also reshaped the urban landscape, connecting the city’s diverse locales with speed and efficiency. The idea of a skyliner, proposed in 2006, envisioned a Metro system that would seamlessly traverse the city, offering passengers panoramic views of parks and landmarks.

The Lucknow Metro has experienced a journey characterised by unprecedented popularity, with over 7.6 crore commuters utilising the service to date. This figure surpasses the actual population of Lucknow by 13 times, underscoring the integral role that the Metro now plays in the daily lives of residents. Operating daily from 6am to 10pm, the Metro connects a total of 21 stations.

The success of the Lucknow Metro has set the stage for expanded Metro services in the state, with operations in Kanpur, Noida-Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The Agra Metro is also slated to commence operations by early 2024.

Furthermore, the Indian railways are embarking on an ambitious plan to introduce ‘bullet train’ that will traverse Lucknow’s Awadh crossing on the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor by 2029. With an 813-kilometer track, 13 stations and underground sections, this high-speed corridor aims to offer an unprecedented travel experience.
