The Uttar Pradesh Housing Department has formally requested in-principle approval from the state government to initiate a comprehensive evaluation of this proposed rail link. In parallel with this proposed rail development, a significant 63-kilometre, six-lane Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is already nearing completion. This road infrastructure project, designed to commence in Lucknow and traverse through Bani, Kantha, and Amarsas before concluding near Azad Marg in Kanpur, is also expected to contribute to reduced travel times. While the expressway offers enhanced road connectivity, the introduction of a high-speed rail corridor would provide a complementary, more sustainable alternative, potentially diverting a substantial volume of private vehicular traffic and thereby mitigating carbon emissions and urban congestion.
