Liverpool City Region Secures £1 million Funding for Coastal Road resurfacing projects

The Liverpool City Region has been allocated £1.011 million in funding for road resurfacing projects across the borough. This investment, provided by the Department for Transport through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, aims to improve road conditions and support sustainable transport initiatives.

The funding will be utilised to resurface several key roads identified based on their condition and traffic volume. Notable among these are Higher Road in Halewood, Milton Avenue in Huyton, Kirkby Row in Kirkby, Lower Road in Halewood, St Helens Road in Prescot, and the Eaton Street estate in Prescot, which includes Seddons Court, Evan Street, Moss Street, Halsall Street, and Hope Street. Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, expressed his satisfaction with the funding, stating, “I’m delighted that the council has been offered £1m to improve our highways network. The council has been lobbying the Government for funding aligned to local needs, including ensuring improvements to our highways can be carried out to meet demand.”

This initiative aligns with the Liverpool City Region’s broader commitment to sustainable and equitable urban development. By investing in road maintenance, the region aims to reduce carbon emissions, promote eco-friendly transportation options, and enhance the quality of life for its residents. The resurfacing projects are expected to commence in the coming months, with work scheduled to minimise disruption to local communities. The improvements will not only enhance the driving experience but also contribute to the region’s efforts in creating a zero-net carbon, eco-friendly, and equitable urban environment.

As the projects progress, residents are encouraged to stay informed about the timelines and any potential impacts on local traffic. The council remains committed to transparency and community engagement throughout the duration of the works. For more information on the specific roads included in the resurfacing programme and updates on the project’s progress, residents can visit the official Liverpool City Region Combined Authority website or contact their local council offices.
