Light rain likely in AP, Telangana amid low-pressure system

Weather conditions across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remain unsettled under the influence of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected in isolated pockets on Thursday.According to the India Meteorological Department, the system is being driven by a surface circulation observed over parts of South Interior Karnataka and adjoining areas, extending up to about 1.5 km above mean sea level. Additionally, a trough stretching from South Interior Karnataka to Marathwada in Maharashtra at around 0.9 km altitude is influencing regional weather dynamics.

The Amaravati Meteorological Centre stated that northwesterly and southeasterly winds prevailing in the lower troposphere over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are contributing to cloud formation and scattered precipitation. For the next three days, the forecast indicates that on Thursday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at one or two places along the North Coastal Andhra region and Yanam. Thunderstorms accompanied by fog are also possible in some areas.

However, weather conditions are expected to stabilise from Friday onward. Both Friday and Saturday are likely to witness predominantly dry weather across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, though isolated fog conditions may persist during early morning hours. In contrast, the southern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and the Rayalaseema region are expected to experience dry conditions throughout Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with no significant rainfall predicted.Meteorologists note that such transitional systems are common during this period, often bringing brief spells of rain before the onset of stable, dry conditions.
