Laxmanpuri Ecotourism Reserve Opens to the Public in Lucknow A Hub for Nature and Wellness
Lucknow’s newest destination for nature lovers and eco-tourism enthusiasts has just opened its doors to the public. The Laxmanpuri Ecotourism Reserve, located on the Rae Bareli road near the SGPGIMS, is a vibrant green space that promises to offer an array of activities and experiences for visitors of all ages. This 12-acre reserve, which has been developed with both sustainability and public engagement in mind, is set to become a new gem in the city’s landscape.
Inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh’s Forest Minister Arun K. Saxena, Laxmanpuri Ecotourism Reserve is not just an environmental initiative but also a recreational and educational one. The reserve is designed to cater to diverse interests, from children eager for outdoor play to adults seeking a moment of tranquillity in nature. The facilities available here are thoughtfully crafted to foster both learning and wellness. One of the main attractions is the nature trail, which spans 2.5 kilometres and offers visitors the chance to walk while engaging with educational questions about the environment. As they move along the trail, participants will find answers to the questions posed, creating an interactive experience that encourages both curiosity and learning. Sitanshu Pandey, the Divisional Forest Officer of the Awadh Range, explained that this trail provides a fun and educational way to connect with nature, as it combines exercise with environmental knowledge.
Another noteworthy feature of the Laxmanpuri reserve is the oxygen point, which showcases trees that are known to produce the most oxygen. Visitors can learn about the role these plants play in sustaining life and understand the significance of maintaining such green spaces within urban areas. The reserve has incorporated a Miyawaki forest, which is a compact, dense forest designed to accelerate biodiversity, along with an eco-friendly cycling track for those who wish to explore the area on two wheels. For families, especially children, the children’s park will be a draw. It is specially designed to encourage youngsters to engage in physical activities while enjoying nature. The reserve also boasts an open gym, a popular facility that has already gained traction across the state. This is a place where visitors can enjoy fitness activities amidst the serene surroundings of the reserve.
In line with the holistic wellness theme, the yoga point will provide a space for visitors to practice yoga, offering both physical and mental well-being. Whether it’s practising yoga in the fresh air or simply enjoying a peaceful moment by the oxygen-rich trees, Laxmanpuri is a place that blends nature with wellness. Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of this eco-reserve is its commitment to preserving as much of the natural environment as possible. Approximately 90% of the area is left in its natural state, with minimal construction. The reserve has been designed in such a way that the natural landscape remains undisturbed, protecting the greenery and tree cover that make it so special.
Lucknow already has a rich collection of green spaces, including the expansive Kukrail forest, which spans over 5,000 acres. With the introduction of the Laxmanpuri Ecotourism Reserve, the city’s eco-tourism offering has been further enhanced. In the future, Lucknow will also be home to the country’s first night safari, adding another exciting dimension to its growing reputation as an eco-tourism destination. As the Laxmanpuri Ecotourism Reserve opens to the public, it presents a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors alike to reconnect with nature, engage in physical activity, and learn more about the environment. With its wide range of activities and commitment to preserving green spaces, Laxmanpuri promises to be a much-loved addition to Lucknow’s landscape.
