Kolkata Traffic Advisory Issued Amid Scheduled Processions

Kolkata is expected to face significant traffic disruptions throughout the day due to multiple scheduled processions. Starting early afternoon and continuing into the evening, these events are set to affect major thoroughfares across the city. Commuters have been advised to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and avoid heavily impacted roads as traffic management measures are deployed to minimise citywide congestion.

The first round of disruptions is anticipated from 1 PM, with a procession planned along RB Avenue. By 2 PM, another group is expected near prominent central landmarks, including KC Das, Dorina Crossing, and JL Nehru Road. These areas, usually congested, are likely to see further delays as marchers proceed through the heart of Kolkata. Officials have urged caution and rerouting during these hours.

In the evening, traffic congestion is expected to intensify as a major procession is scheduled to begin at 6 PM from Hazra More. The route covers SPM Road, RB Avenue, Gariahat Road, and Golpark—key traffic arteries in South Kolkata. Simultaneously, another group will march through Lenin Sarani, R R Road, Free School Street, Ripon Street, Bata More, and Eliot Road, further straining vehicular movement.

By 7 PM, the final procession of the day will proceed through areas in the south-western parts of the city. The affected roads include Behala PS, Diamond Harbour Road, and Behala Chowrasta. These roads already witness high evening traffic, and the additional activity is expected to create prolonged delays, especially for those commuting home from work.

Authorities have requested all motorists to remain vigilant and follow real-time traffic updates. Alternative routes are being recommended to help ease movement across key intersections. City officials and traffic management teams will be monitoring the situation closely and may implement detours where necessary. Residents are encouraged to avoid affected areas and plan their journeys with sufficient buffer time.

With several large processions scheduled throughout the day, Kolkata is bracing for widespread traffic congestion. Major city routes are expected to face delays, especially during peak evening hours. Commuters are strongly advised to use alternate routes and stay informed through official traffic updates. Authorities are deploying teams to manage the situation, but public cooperation remains key to ensuring minimal disruption and smoother travel across the city.
