The Kochi City Finale of the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge, NICMAR’s nationwide student innovation initiative, concluded successfully, drawing over 25 teams of undergraduate engineering and architecture students to present actionable solutions for India’s evolving built environment.The city-round focused on challenges spanning construction, urban infrastructure, and real estate development, offering students a platform to demonstrate practical ideas capable of scaling to real-world projects. Projects included sustainable construction techniques, smart urban design solutions, and innovative approaches to infrastructure efficiency. The finale emphasised both creativity and feasibility, reflecting the intersection of technical knowledge and applied problem-solving.
An expert jury assessed entries on innovation, feasibility, scalability, and relevance to contemporary infrastructure needs. The panel included senior representatives from academic and industry institutions, highlighting the value of bridging classroom learning with on-ground infrastructure realities. According to industry observers, the competition fosters early exposure to challenges that India’s urban and project ecosystems face, equipping students with insights into regulatory, environmental, and economic constraints.The winning teams for the Kochi round were:

The programme, which offers prizes worth ₹30 lakh, has grown into one of the largest student-led innovation movements in India focused on the built environment.
