KMDA Mulls Master Plan to Reduce Ganga Pollution

The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) plans to engage a consultant to prepare a master plan for pollution reduction in the Ganga and its tributary basin in the Kolkata Metropolitan Area for the projected population of 2042.

The focus will be on liquid waste management, interception and diversion of sewerage network connections, and bridging the sewage and septage treatment capacity gap around river-centric cities and towns.

The overall plan is to thoroughly upgrade and further develop the existing drainage and sewerage network system of riverfront cities and townships.
