The long-pending urban property survey of Kharadi, a rapidly growing locality in Pune, is reaching a critical juncture as authorities prepare to conduct the final inquiry phase on February 6 and 7. The State Land Settlement Commissioner, Suhas Diwase, has confirmed that all 13,300 properties in Kharadi will undergo verification as part of this process. Originally proposed in 2007, the survey faced multiple delays due to technical constraints but gained momentum in 2023 with the deployment of advanced surveying techniques, including drone technology. The initiative, executed by government staff in collaboration with Mr. Monarch Surveyor Pvt. Ltd., is expected to streamline property ownership records and eliminate ambiguities related to landholding rights.

To ensure transparency and accuracy, the inquiry process will be conducted using the City Survey Enquiry Software (CSES). Sixty Deputy Superintendents of Land Records and Urban Survey Officers, along with employees from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), will oversee the verification, conducting site visits to cross-check property details against official survey records. A public notice issued on January 20 has informed 7/12 extract holders about the process, urging property owners to participate actively to prevent future legal complications. The completion of this survey is expected to bring immense benefits to residents, including access to official GIS-based property maps, digital records, and updated property cards that can be used for legal transactions, loans, and tax assessments.
