Karnataka Attracts Taiwan Funding For Semiconductor And Electronic Home Appliances Manufacturing Park
Karnataka has attracted a ₹1,000 crore investment from Taiwan’s Allegiance Group to establish a semiconductor and electronic home appliances manufacturing park, positioning the state as a key player in India’s high-tech industrial landscape. The India-Taiwan Industrial Park (ITIP) is projected to generate 800 direct jobs over the next five years while fostering advanced research, innovation, and cross-border technology collaboration.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by IT/BT director Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur and Allegiance Group vice president Lawrence Chen, signalling a strategic step in strengthening India–Taiwan industrial relations. The facility is planned as a specialised hub for Taiwanese companies focusing on semiconductor fabrication, electronic home appliance production, and research and development, creating a comprehensive value chain for high-tech manufacturing.“This initiative brings cutting-edge semiconductor technologies and electronics production expertise to Karnataka,” said a senior state official. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah welcomed the project, emphasising its potential to enhance employment, attract global manufacturers, and integrate India more deeply into the international electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
The investment aligns with Karnataka’s broader industrial strategy, which seeks to combine economic growth with sustainable urban development. Just last week, American industrial gases firm Praxair announced plans to invest ₹200 crore in local operations over three years. Over the past two years, Karnataka has signed more than 115 MoUs worth ₹6.57 lakh crore, attracting multinational corporations such as Tata Motors, HAL, and Bosch, further consolidating the state’s position as a manufacturing and technology hub.Industry experts note that the ITIP will catalyse Taiwanese firms’ entry into the Indian market, offering access to a skilled workforce, modern infrastructure, and a supportive regulatory framework. Lawrence Chen highlighted that the park will help Taiwanese companies scale efficiently while promoting technology transfer, sustainable production practices, and global best-in-class standards.IT/BT minister Priyank Kharge added that the facility will deepen bilateral industrial ties and reinforce Karnataka’s role in advanced electronics, semiconductors, and home appliance manufacturing. The park is expected to integrate R&D, component manufacturing, and assembly processes, supporting inclusive and equitable growth in the technology sector.
By establishing this industrial hub, Karnataka is creating a model for future-ready, sustainable manufacturing ecosystems. The ITIP represents a convergence of economic opportunity, technological innovation, and environmentally conscious industrial development, strengthening both the state’s and India’s position in the global electronics and semiconductor supply chain.
