Kandla Port Strengthens Operations with Infrastructure Upgrades

Kandla Port has embarked on a significant infrastructure development journey, unveiling a new Seafarer Centre and initiating key projects to bolster operational efficiency and safety.

These initiatives align with the port’s vision to become a global maritime hub, enhancing connectivity, safety, and welfare for all stakeholders. The newly inaugurated Seafarer Centre at Kandla Port is designed to provide comprehensive welfare facilities for seafarers. Spanning a substantial area, the centre offers amenities such as a waiting lounge, shopping area, medical room, salon, music and yoga zones, gym, café, basketball court, swimming pool, and a landscaped garden. These facilities aim to create a comfortable and rejuvenating environment for seafarers, acknowledging their crucial role in global trade.

To enhance cargo evacuation and improve long-haul connectivity, Kandla Port has extended its railway infrastructure by 750 meters towards Berths 13 to 16, connecting the port area with Kutch Salt Junction. This strategic rail link is expected to facilitate smoother cargo movement, especially with the upcoming Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), ensuring faster and more efficient logistics. In a bid to bolster emergency preparedness, the port has established a dedicated Fire Brigade Station within its operational zone. Equipped with office space for fire and immigration staff and a 50 KL underground water storage tank, this facility aims to significantly enhance safety mechanisms within the port vicinity.

These infrastructural developments underscore Kandla Port’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth. By focusing on seafarer welfare, operational efficiency, and safety, the port is paving the way for a resilient and future-ready maritime ecosystem. These initiatives also align with broader national goals of enhancing port infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in the maritime sector. As Kandla Port continues to expand its infrastructure and services, these developments are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing its capacity and efficiency. The integration of welfare facilities, improved connectivity, and enhanced safety measures positions the port as a key player in India’s maritime sector, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and global trade competitiveness.

With these strategic initiatives, Kandla Port is not only enhancing its operational capabilities but also setting new standards in seafarer welfare and safety, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth in the maritime industry.
