Kalyan-Shilphata Flyover Closed Check Alternative Routes
Commuters using the Kalyan-Shilphata Road should brace for significant traffic disruptions starting 12 PM on February 7, as the Nilje railway flyover undergoes reconstruction. The project, spearheaded by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), will continue until 12 PM on February 10, leading to a complete halt in vehicular movement on this critical stretch.
According to Senior Police Inspector Sachin Sandbhor of the Kolsevadi Transport Department, all traffic between Shilphata Road and Palava Junction will remain suspended during this period. The restrictions, initiated upon the railway department’s request, are aimed at facilitating smooth and timely completion of the reconstruction work.

No Entry from Kalyan towards Mumbra & Kalyan Phata: Vehicles will be restricted at Kate Chowk (Badlapur Phata) and redirected via Khoni Naka and Taloja MIDC Road.

The Shilphata Road has long been a bottleneck due to its narrow lanes, pending land acquisition issues, and ongoing metro construction. With the flyover closure, congestion is expected to intensify, especially between Katai and Khidkali. Commuters are advised to plan their travel schedules, avoid peak hours where possible, and strictly adhere to the diversion plans outlined by the authorities. Inspector Sandbhor has urged motorists to exercise patience and caution, emphasising the importance of these short-term disruptions for long-term infrastructure improvements.
