Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (KPIL), a leading player in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) space, has secured significant new contracts valued at Rs 2,372 crore.
The orders are primarily focused on the power transmission and distribution (T&D) sectors both within India and internationally. The company’s strategic move to diversify its order book comes as it capitalises on the rapidly expanding global demand for infrastructure development. The new orders reinforce KPIL’s position as a key player in power transmission and distribution, a sector critical for ensuring sustainable energy infrastructure. In addition to the T&D sector, the company has also made notable gains in the buildings and factories (B&F) sector within India. These contracts come from prominent developers and are a testament to KPIL’s ability to deliver large-scale projects with precision, adhering to its long-standing reputation for quality and timely delivery.
Manish Mohnot, Managing Director & CEO of Kalpataru Projects International, commented on the new development, stating that these fresh T&D contracts would strengthen their foothold in some of the world’s most dynamic EPC markets, including India, the Nordic countries, and the Middle East. The company has steadily built its presence in these regions, riding the wave of robust infrastructure growth, which is expected to accelerate further in the coming years. Founded in 1981 as Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited, the Mumbai-based company underwent a significant rebrand in May 2023, emerging as Kalpataru Projects International. This rebranding marks the company’s expanded global operations and diversified service portfolio. Over the years, KPIL has carved a niche for itself in a wide range of infrastructure sectors, such as water supply and irrigation, railways, urban mobility (metro rail and flyovers), and highways.
KPIL’s global presence spans over 75 countries, with completed projects in more than 30 nations, including notable markets like Nepal, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and India. The company’s robust growth is underscored by its recent performance, reporting consolidated revenues of USD 2.4 billion for the financial year ending March 31, 2024. The company’s order book has exceeded USD 7 billion, positioning KPIL well to capitalise on the burgeoning demand for infrastructure development worldwide. As part of its ongoing efforts to expand its footprint, KPIL has further enhanced its global workforce, which now exceeds 24,000 employees. This expansion comes as KPIL undertakes projects in more than 30 countries, cementing its role as a key contributor to the global infrastructure landscape.
KPIL’s impressive order wins also come at a time when the company is focused on reinforcing its sustainability agenda. The growing focus on renewable energy and sustainable construction practices, especially in the power and transmission sectors, aligns with KPIL’s strategic goal of creating zero-net carbon infrastructure solutions. The company’s continued focus on sustainable project delivery will be integral as India and the global market transition towards greener, more sustainable infrastructure solutions. In conclusion, these significant new contracts not only bolster Kalpataru’s position in key growth markets but also serve as a reaffirmation of its status as one of India’s most influential players in the global EPC sector. The company’s ability to secure high-value orders across diverse sectors speaks volumes about its operational expertise and commitment to quality.
