Jaipur Municipal Corporation’s Heritage Commissioner, Abhishek Surana, has initiated comprehensive measures to address waterlogging issues in the city following recent monsoon showers. Concerned by public complaints, Surana conducted an extensive inspection to assess the readiness of Jaipur’s drainage infrastructure and issued directives for urgent actions.
During his inspection, Commissioner Surana focused on key areas such as the Walled City and MI Road, where initial reports of waterlogging surfaced. He meticulously reviewed the cleaning operations at critical drainage points including Nag Talai drain on Delhi Road, Gangapol drain, and Fakiron ki Dungri drain. Expressing satisfaction with the cleaning progress at these sites, he underscored the need for expedited efforts in other areas. In wards 18 and 19, Surana identified incomplete cleaning work in Bandha Basti, Pashupatinath Colony, and Chandmari Batt drain. He promptly instructed the corporation’s garage branch to complete these tasks within two days, emphasizing the urgency to prevent potential waterlogging incidents. The Commissioner also monitored ongoing drainage construction projects, notably inspecting new drains being constructed at Moti Katla market and outside Kale Hanumanji temple. He highlighted the strategic importance of these infrastructural developments in diverting market runoff effectively to mitigate waterlogging near the temple premises.
“Addressing the flow of market water to Chandi ki Taksal is crucial. The new drain construction by JMC Heritage near Kale Hanumanji temple aims to resolve longstanding waterlogging challenges,” affirmed Commissioner Surana, emphasizing the proactive measures undertaken by the municipal body. Beyond immediate cleaning and construction tasks, Surana directed officials to ensure comprehensive preparations across the city. This includes completing necessary maintenance work on drain embankments and bolstering overall drainage infrastructure resilience. Jaipur residents, who have often faced seasonal waterlogging issues, can expect enhanced operational efficiency and improved drainage management as the municipal corporation intensifies its efforts under Commissioner Surana’s proactive leadership.
