Jewar to Get 3km Road Link Enhancing Regional Travel and Connectivity
Greater Noida is set to significantly improve connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar with the proposed construction of a 3km link road. The initiative will connect two major arterial roads—Greater Noida’s 130-metre wide corridor and Yamuna Authority’s 120-metre wide road—closing a crucial infrastructure gap. Once completed, the route will offer residents of Greater Noida, Greater Noida West, and Ghaziabad an alternative to the congested Yamuna Expressway, easing travel times and supporting regional growth.
The missing stretch, previously hindered by land acquisition challenges, is now back on the agenda as urban expansion and rising airport-linked traffic have renewed urgency. Authorities have already built a 30km road from Char Murti Chowk to Sirsa village, but the lack of connection with Yamuna Authority’s road at Rampur Majra has created a bottleneck. Officials now aim to bridge this gap and incorporate an underpass beneath the Eastern Peripheral Expressway for uninterrupted traffic flow. The plan underscores a larger vision for integrated, sustainable transit in the region. This corridor is expected to directly serve densely populated residential sectors like Sigma III, Omicron 1A, and industrial hubs including Ecotech 11. With an estimated 5 lakh residents in Greater Noida West alone, the project has become essential for commuter convenience and urban planning.
Once functional, the link will allow vehicles to bypass congested areas and access the airport in significantly less time. Local stakeholders have welcomed the move, citing both time savings and reduced vehicular stress as major benefits. The road also promises to support environmentally sustainable mobility by encouraging efficient use of arterial roadways, minimising idle fuel burn on jammed routes. Additionally, the planned underpass near Sirsa village will eliminate bottlenecks at the Eastern Peripheral Expressway junction, improving safety and vehicular fluidity. Experts note that such infrastructure upgrades are critical to the success of greenfield developments like the Noida International Airport, which is positioned as a major logistics and passenger hub in northern India.
As the airport nears its operational phase, this last-mile connection is gaining strategic importance. Officials are expediting land acquisition and design assessments to ensure timely completion. The project embodies a shift toward smarter, multi-nodal city planning that balances rapid urbanisation with infrastructure sustainability. For a region poised to become a vital economic engine, closing this 3km gap is more than a local fix—it’s a step toward regional resilience and future-ready mobility.
