Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has embarked on a significant anti-encroachment initiative aimed at reclaiming approximately 50 kilometres of city roads from unauthorized structures and obstructions.
Following the success of a recent eviction campaign in the Mansarovar area, the enforcement wing of JDA has identified 11 key stretches across Jaipur where strict enforcement measures will be implemented starting today. The eviction drive, scheduled to continue until July 31, focuses on dismantling temporary structures obstructing public roads. Additionally, permanent encroachments identified along these routes will face legal notices under Section 72 of the JDA Act 1982, paving the way for subsequent removal actions post-July 31.
The head of JDA’s enforcement wing, highlighted the urgency of the initiative, citing support from the state government and a mandate to enhance road infrastructure by removing encroachments. “In compliance with a high court directive and bolstered by government backing, JDA is intensifying efforts to clear major city thoroughfares. The targeted areas have been meticulously chosen to maximize impact and restore traffic flow,” the official stated. A senior JDA official underscored the strategic importance of these anti-encroachment measures in facilitating upcoming infrastructure projects outlined in the state budget. “With significant allocations for elevated roads, flyovers, and rail overbridge/underbridge projects, it is imperative that JDA ensures these corridors are free from encumbrances,” the official noted.
