JD Logistics and Faurecia have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to accelerate green and digital innovation in China’s automotive sector.
Formalised during the “FORVIA Group 2025 Sustainability Day” event on 25 April, the partnership is poised to reshape the supply chain landscape by embedding low-carbon and intelligent technologies into logistics and warehousing operations, aligning with the industry’s growing commitment to net-zero goals. With over 90 operational sites across China, Faurecia, a key player under the FORVIA Group umbrella, continues to strengthen its sustainability credentials in automotive component manufacturing and low-carbon technologies. Meanwhile, JD Logistics has emerged as a technology-led supply chain powerhouse, operating an extensive smart warehousing and transport network across China. As the first logistics company in the country to obtain Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) certification, JD Logistics has committed to halving its total carbon emissions by 2030 from its 2019 levels, reflecting the firm’s proactive stance towards environmental stewardship.

This strategic alignment brings together JD Logistics’ robust carbon management capabilities with Faurecia’s pioneering automotive technologies. JD Logistics’ intelligent carbon footprint management system, which enables precise emissions tracking across warehousing, transportation, packaging, and recycling, has already benefited close to 100 partners. Under the partnership, Faurecia will tap into JD Logistics’ nationwide network of new energy vehicles, green warehousing technologies, and optimised logistics routing to significantly reduce carbon emissions across its supply chain while ensuring economic viability.
Notably, Faurecia has become the world’s first automotive technology company to secure SBTi certification for its net-zero emissions targets, pledging a 20 per cent reduction in logistics-related carbon emissions by 2030 against a 2019 baseline. The collaboration will extend to building a logistics carbon emissions factor database and leveraging the Supply Chain Emission Management Platform (SCEMP) developed by JD Logistics. Through this, real-time monitoring and management of freight carbon emissions will be implemented, setting new benchmarks for supply chain transparency and accountability in the automotive sector.
The shared vision of JD Logistics and Faurecia underscores a broader movement within the industrial sector to integrate sustainability as a core strategic priority rather than an ancillary goal. As urban centres and industries face mounting pressure to reduce environmental impacts, partnerships such as this demonstrate that decarbonisation and economic competitiveness can go hand in hand. With a clear focus on green innovation and digital transformation, this collaboration is expected to catalyse positive change not only within China’s automotive industry but also across global supply chain networks seeking to align with zero net carbon objectives. The alliance marks a pivotal moment for sustainable logistics and auto manufacturing, reinforcing the belief that the future of mobility and commerce must be built on the pillars of eco-consciousness, digital intelligence, and shared societal responsibility.
