Jaipur’s Traffic Strategy Bhagwan Das Road Partially Closed

Jaipur: In a strategic move aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and alleviating traffic congestion, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has announced the partial closure of Bhagwan Das Road between Gate 1 and Gate 3 of the high court for the construction of an underground parking facility.

Effective from midnight on June 6, the closure will facilitate the expedited construction of a two-level underground parking spanning approximately 10,000 square meters within the existing parking area at Rambagh Golf Club. This development aligns with the city’s efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure and address parking challenges in key areas.

A spokesperson from the JDA elaborated on the project’s features, highlighting the inclusion of a pedestrian subway connecting the parking lot to Gate 2 of the high court for enhanced accessibility. Furthermore, the parking facility will accommodate 100 charging points for electric vehicles, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

The initiative aims to mitigate congestion along Bhagwan Das Road, a vital thoroughfare hosting significant government institutions such as the state secretariat and the high court. The prevalent practice of vehicles parked along both sides of the road, particularly between Statue Circle and Ambedkar Circle, has been a longstanding issue hindering smooth traffic flow.

Moreover, the new underground parking complex is poised to serve as a convenient parking option during major events at the SMS Stadium. Spectators attending cricket matches and other gatherings can utilize the facility, reducing vehicular congestion in the vicinity while promoting pedestrian-friendly access to the stadium.

This infrastructure upgrade reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development and efficient transportation management. By integrating modern parking solutions with pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, Jaipur aims to enhance mobility, alleviate traffic burdens, and create a more liveable urban environment for its residents and visitors alike.
