Jaipur International Airport is poised for significant upgrades with the planned development of a state-of-the-art fuel farm, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing turnaround times for aircraft. The proposed facility, boasting a capacity of 5,000 kilolitres, will streamline the refuelling process by allowing multiple airline trucks to be stationed concurrently, thereby minimizing waiting times and logistical delays.
“The construction of the fuel farm near the state hangar is part of our strategy to optimize airport operations. It will significantly enhance our capability to handle aircraft refuelling, ensuring quicker turnaround times,” affirmed a senior official from Jaipur Airport. Currently, aircraft refuelling involves a sequential process where a truck first refuels at a central station before transferring fuel to waiting aircraft. The implementation of the fuel farm will eliminate this bottleneck, enabling more efficient operations at Jaipur Airport.
In addition to the fuel farm, Jaipur Airport is embarking on several other development initiatives aimed at bolstering its infrastructure and passenger services. Plans include the construction of new taxiways, aprons, and a Rapid Exit Taxiway (RET), designed to expedite aircraft movement and reduce runway occupancy times. Jaipur Airport is set to introduce passenger-centric initiatives such as DigiYatra, passenger Wi-Fi services, and other IoT-based projects aimed at enriching the overall travel experience. The airport is also committed to sustainable growth, with plans to transition towards greater use of electric vehicles within its premises.
“The ongoing and planned infrastructure projects, amounting to an estimated INR 6,000 crore investment by 2027, shows our commitment to enhancing passenger amenities and operational efficiency,” added the official. Another pivotal development on the horizon is the Integrated Cargo Complex, with an annual handling capacity of 22,500 metric tonnes. This facility is expected to catalyse economic growth by enhancing cargo handling capabilities and facilitating smoother logistics operations at Jaipur Airport.
