Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), in partnership with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), has launched the ‘One India-One Ticket’ initiative. This groundbreaking endeavour aims to streamline ticketing processes by integrating railway and metro services under a unified booking platform.
Delhi Metro commuters can now seamlessly purchase QR code-based tickets directly through the IRCTC website and mobile application. This integration not only simplifies the ticketing experience but also extends the booking window for metro journeys to 120 days in advance, aligning it with the Indian Railways’ Advance Reservation Period (ARP). Traditionally, metro tickets in Delhi could only be purchased on the day of travel, limiting planning flexibility. The introduction of advance booking options is set to enhance travel convenience significantly. The QR code-based tickets issued under this system are valid for four days, offering commuters greater flexibility in travel planning and eliminating the need for last-minute ticket purchases. Passengers traveling on mainline railway routes that originate or terminate within the Delhi/NCR region can now seamlessly include Delhi Metro tickets during their booking process. Moreover, the integration ensures that each DMRC QR code is consolidated into the Electronic Reservation Slip issued by IRCTC, facilitating a seamless travel experience across different modes of transport.
