In a significant push towards fostering modern infrastructure in Jharkhand, Union Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated highway projects with a cumulative worth exceeding Rs 2,500 crore on Sunday.
Virtually laying the foundation stones, Gadkari initiated crucial projects, including the four-laning of the Tupudana to Kundibartoli section (including Khunti bypass) and the widening and upgradation of the Bero to Khunti section. The construction of the Bero to Khunti section holds the promise of easing traffic congestion and catalysing development in the surrounding regions. Of particular significance is the Khunti Bypass, poised to facilitate the seamless transportation of local products to markets, thereby fostering economic and social development in the area.
These projects not only envisage time and fuel savings, contributing to pollution reduction, but also underscore the commitment to building modern, high-quality roads that ensure safe and efficient transportation. The anticipated outcome includes the encouragement of economic activities and the creation of new avenues for employment and entrepreneurship. Notably, Minister Gadkari also laid the foundation stone for 22 National Highway Projects in Mysuru, Karnataka, on the same day. Valued at over Rs 4,000 Crore, these projects span 268 km, aiming to enhance connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion. Initiatives like the Huliyar-KB cross-Chunchanahalli-Nelligere road and the Mysuru Ring Road are strategically positioned to bolster connectivity between Mysuru and North Karnataka, ensuring a smoother traffic flow. The 4-lane expansion of Belur-Hassan and Yedegowdanahalli-Bilikere road, coupled with the installation of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) at Hangarahalli and Holenarasipur Bypass, is poised to significantly reduce travel time by up to 2 hours. Crucially, the development of major bridges, minor bridges, and ROBs on railway-level crossings reflects a comprehensive effort to facilitate unhindered traffic movement, aligning with the commitment to streamlined urban planning. Gadkari’s initiatives underscore the Government’s dedication to bolstering India’s infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and creating a robust network that aligns with modern transportation needs.
