Indore To Mumbai Tejas Express Services Extended Till 30 September By Western Railway

Rail passengers travelling between Indore and Mumbai have received a significant extension in services, as Western Railway has prolonged the operation of the Tejas Superfast Special Express until the end of September 2025, responding to surging demand and public convenience.

The Tejas Express, a premium service known for its punctuality and comfort, was earlier scheduled to complete its final run by mid-September. However, rising commuter numbers and sustained demand have compelled railway authorities to continue its operations. Officials confirmed that the Mumbai Central–Indore Tejas Express will now run from Mumbai every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until 29 September, while the Indore–Mumbai Central service will depart every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until 30 September. This extension maintains the train’s original schedule and composition, ensuring no disruption for regular passengers. The train continues to offer First AC, Second AC, and Third AC coaches, providing travellers with a range of comfortable options suited for both business and leisure journeys. The halt points remain unchanged, covering Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Dahod, Ratlam, and Ujjain, thereby keeping intact the strategic connectivity that makes this route one of the busiest in Western India.

Bookings for the extended services commenced on 21 July through Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and the IRCTC portal, with officials confirming steady demand. The continuation of services underlines how railways are adapting quickly to urban and inter-city mobility needs, particularly at a time when India is looking to promote efficient, low-carbon travel options over short-haul flights. Experts believe that extending Tejas Express services also resonates with the larger vision of sustainable and inclusive mobility. Trains, being more energy-efficient per passenger-kilometre compared to air travel, reduce emissions while addressing rising demand between fast-growing economic centres like Indore and Mumbai. For cities aspiring towards equitable and eco-friendly development, investments in modern railway services such as Tejas serve both practical commuter needs and broader climate-conscious goals.

Railway officials highlighted that demand for premium inter-city trains has steadily grown, fuelled by increasing business travel, cultural exchanges, and the need for reliable alternatives to road congestion. The Tejas Express has emerged as a symbol of this shift, blending modern facilities with dependable schedules, which collectively improve passenger experience. The decision to extend services until September, though temporary for now, is a step towards testing longer-term operational models. With rising calls for enhanced inter-city rail services across India, such measures set a precedent for scaling up sustainable, fast, and comfortable rail options that could redefine urban connectivity in the years ahead. As the Indore–Mumbai Tejas Express resumes its extended runs, passengers can continue to rely on a service that not only saves time but also contributes to the broader mission of building greener, smarter, and more connected cities.
