The highly anticipated Indora Square Metro Station in Nagpur has moved a significant step closer to opening. The station, part of Nagpur Metro Phase-1, underwent a critical safety inspection on Tuesday conducted by Janak Kumar Garg, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The inspection focused on ensuring safety compliance, with a report detailing necessary changes expected within a few days. Despite past setbacks, MahaMetro officials have assured that the station will be operational shortly.
Indora Square Metro Station’s journey has been marked by significant delays. While the rest of Nagpur Metro Phase-1 became operational in December 2022, land acquisition issues prevented timely progress on the Indora station. Land acquisition, which began in 2016, was only completed in October 2022, delaying the start of construction until November 2022.
Initially scheduled for opening in April 2024, the station missed several deadlines, including those set for June and August. However, the successful completion of the safety inspection has reignited hopes that the station will open soon, providing much-needed connectivity to commuters in a densely populated area of Nagpur. Once operational, Indora Square Metro Station will be a key stop on the Orange Line’s North-South corridor, offering improved accessibility for thousands of passengers. This station is expected to enhance the overall efficiency of Nagpur’s metro system and ease traffic congestion in the surrounding areas. MahaMetro officials have promised that the station’s operational launch is imminent, with the final touches being completed to ensure the station meets all necessary safety and operational standards.
