IndiGo will commence daily direct flights connecting Kolkata and Phuket from December 27, strengthening its international network and boosting travel between India and Thailand. This is IndiGo’s second direct route to Phuket after Delhi, catering to the growing demand for travel to Thailand.
The airline will operate Flight 1901, departing Kolkata at 6:00 am and arriving in Phuket at 10:40 am on Fridays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the flight will depart at 6:50 am. The return flights from Phuket will operate daily, with departure times varying slightly by day, ensuring convenient options for travellers.
This new connection is expected to enhance tourism and trade links between eastern India and Southeast Asia. “Kolkata, as a key metropolitan city, is upgrading its infrastructure to meet growing travel demands. This new route aligns with broader connectivity initiatives like the Kolkata-Bangkok Highway project linking India, Myanmar, and Thailand,” IndiGo said in a statement. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, highlighted the airline’s commitment to strengthening its Thailand network, now operating 93 weekly flights between the two countries. He noted that Phuket’s appeal, combined with Thailand’s visa-free policy for Indian citizens, is expected to boost demand. In addition, IndiGo will introduce daily direct flights between Chennai and Penang starting December 21, enhancing connectivity to Malaysia. Bookings for these routes are now open on IndiGo’s official website and mobile app.
