IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost carrier, has expanded its international network with the launch of direct flights from Bengaluru to Mauritius. The new service, which commenced on November 19, marks the airline’s 35th international destination and its second in Africa, underscoring its growing presence in global air travel.
The four-times-weekly service, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, connects Bengaluru to Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius, in just five and a half hours. This new route enhances travel options for both leisure and business travellers, offering seamless connectivity between India and the idyllic island nation, renowned for its pristine beaches, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant economy. The inaugural flight, 6E1861, departs Bengaluru at 3.20 AM and arrives in Mauritius at 7.45 AM local time. The return flight from Mauritius, 6E1862, is scheduled to depart at 9.30 AM and land back in Bengaluru at 4.45 PM, ensuring a convenient schedule for both outbound and inbound passengers.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, emphasizing the deep cultural, political, and economic ties shared between India and Mauritius. “This new flight not only caters to the growing demand for tourism but also fosters stronger trade and commercial collaborations between the two nations. With visa-on-arrival for Indian passport holders, this route presents numerous opportunities for both business and leisure travellers,” he added.
