Mumbai’s international connectivity is set to expand further as IndiGo prepares to launch a new daily service to Denpasar in Bali from 18 October 2025. The move positions the airline to capture growing outbound demand for leisure and wellness travel while strengthening its footprint across Southeast Asia.
This latest route marks IndiGo’s second direct connection between India and Bali, complementing its existing daily services from Bengaluru. The airline will deploy its Airbus A320 fleet on the Mumbai–Denpasar sector, offering passengers a direct link between one of India’s busiest airports and Indonesia’s premier tourism destination. Airline officials confirmed that bookings have already opened through digital platforms and authorised travel partners. They emphasised that adding Mumbai as a gateway to Bali aligns with the carrier’s broader expansion strategy of linking Indian metros to emerging global holiday markets.
Bali continues to rank as one of Southeast Asia’s most sought-after leisure destinations, especially among Indian travellers. Its combination of beaches, cultural heritage, yoga retreats, and wedding venues, along with favourable visa policies, has made it a preferred international getaway. Travel industry experts note that Indian tourists are increasingly seeking wellness-oriented experiences and short-haul holiday destinations, a trend that Bali has successfully catered to in recent years. The new flight schedule also signals IndiGo’s confidence in sustaining traffic between India and Indonesia beyond seasonal peaks. By positioning Mumbai as a key departure hub, the airline is tapping into demand from both western India’s business community and its sizeable leisure market. With this addition, IndiGo strengthens its claim as India’s largest carrier, offering seamless access to over 40 international destinations.
Industry observers point out that this expansion also supports broader economic linkages. Increased flight capacity between India and Indonesia is expected to boost bilateral tourism flows, promote cultural exchanges, and stimulate ancillary sectors such as hospitality and retail. The timing coincides with India’s growing outbound passenger numbers, which reached record levels in 2024–25 as disposable incomes and travel aspirations rose among urban consumers. IndiGo currently operates a fleet of more than 400 aircraft and runs around 2,200 daily flights. In the last financial year alone, it added 58 aircraft and carried over 118 million passengers. Aviation analysts underline that this steady fleet induction has given the carrier the flexibility to expand internationally while consolidating.
