Indian Railways is set to enhance regional connectivity with the introduction of a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express linking Brahmapur and Udhna via Nagpur. The inaugural service, Train No. 09022, will commence on 27 September as a special run, marking a strategic expansion to provide commuters and unreserved passengers with an affordable, comfortable travel option. This addition complements the existing Jogbani–Erode weekly service that already passes through Nagpur.
Officials confirmed that the new service, operating regularly as Train No. 19021/19022, is designed to significantly reduce travel time while offering enhanced passenger convenience. The train is scheduled to depart Udhna every Sunday morning at 7.40 am, reaching Nagpur by 7.40 pm, before continuing to Brahmapur. The return journey will leave Brahmapur late Monday night and arrive at Udhna by early Wednesday, ensuring consistent weekly connectivity along the route. The train will make scheduled halts at major stations including Udhna, Bardoli, Vyara, Navapur, Nandurbar, Dondaicha, Sindkheda, Amalner, Dharangaon, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Akola, Badnera, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Durg, Raipur, Mahasamund, Khariar Road, Kantabanji, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Muniguda, Rayagada, Parvatipuram, Bobbili, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Palasa, and Brahmapur. Officials emphasised that the service aims to balance speed, convenience, and accessibility for both urban and regional passengers.
The train is equipped with 22 modern LHB Amrit Bharat coaches, comprising 8 Sleeper Class, 11 General Second Class, 1 Pantry Car, and 2 SLR coaches. Experts highlight that these features reflect Indian Railways’ focus on sustainable and energy-efficient operations, providing improved passenger comfort and reducing carbon footprint compared to road travel. The inclusion of modern LHB coaches is expected to enhance safety and operational efficiency across the route. Railway authorities noted that this initiative aligns with broader efforts to expand semi-high-speed rail connectivity while integrating sustainable transport solutions. Officials explained that the Amrit Bharat Express network is being developed to support equitable access, offering affordable options to commuters, pilgrims, and regional travellers alike. The service also demonstrates a strategic focus on linking major economic hubs and supporting regional mobility, critical for urban and rural development.
With India’s rail network continuing to modernise, the Brahmapur–Udhna Amrit Bharat Express via Nagpur is expected to play a key role in improving long-distance travel convenience. Authorities encourage passengers to book tickets in advance through official platforms and highlighted ongoing commitments to safety, sustainability, and enhanced passenger experience across the Indian Railways network.
