Radha Mohan Singh, BJP national vice-president, announced that the central government has developed comprehensive plans for poverty alleviation by 2047. Singh emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership guides the resolution to build a poverty-free, strong, and developed India. The BJP leader made these remarks during the concluding session of a two-day Anusuchit Janjati Morcha organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Varanasi.
Highlighting the prime minister’s commitment to upliftment, Singh emphasized that PM Modi’s primary objective is improving the lives of scheduled castes, tribes, backward classes, and the most marginalized sections of society. Under the guidance of PM Modi, the government has devised comprehensive plans for poverty alleviation, Singh stated. Singh further revealed that the government has prepared various schemes to celebrate the centenary year of India’s independence in 2047. These schemes specifically target the welfare of the poor, exploited, and deprived classes, forming an integral part of the comprehensive plans for poverty alleviation.
The BJP leader also highlighted the government’s efforts in extending reservations for scheduled tribes and scheduled castes in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for an additional ten years. This move aims to provide representation and opportunities to these marginalized communities in the political sphere. Singh shared that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has supported tribal students through scholarships. From April 1 to December 31, 2022, 26.37 lakh tribal students were beneficiaries of the ministry’s scholarship program, facilitated through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
Former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi, also present at the event, commended the BJP government for its respect towards various tribal communities, whose population exceeds ten crore in India. He contrasted this with other governments that he claimed had only used tribes for political gain, while the current dispensation is genuinely committed to their development. Marandi further mentioned the historical oversight of tribal communities’ contributions to India’s independence struggle. Recognizing the significance of tribal communities, Marandi announced that November 15 would be celebrated as Tribal Pride Day. He commended the government for appointing many cabinet members from tribal communities and criticized the Congress party for allegedly betraying the trust of tribal people.
