India’s Vande Bharat Express trains are now offering a new real time reservation facility allowing passengers to book tickets just fifteen minutes before departure. Indian Railways has implemented this system on select services aiming to significantly enhance passenger convenience and optimize seat occupancy. This groundbreaking initiative makes last minute travel plans more flexible for commuters. The new booking option is available both online and directly at station counters across various routes within the network.
This crucial update became effective on July 17. In Kerala, this real time booking option is now operational for the Thiruvananthapuram Mangaluru and Mangaluru Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat trains that operate via Alappuzha. Previously, current booking was typically limited once a train departed its originating station. With this update, vacant seats can now be filled from any intermediate station, directly benefiting travelers who might need to board at short notice for their journey.
Railways has extended this facility to several other key Vande Bharat routes beyond Kerala. These include the Chennai Nagercoil and Nagercoil Chennai services the Coimbatore Bengaluru route the Mangaluru Madgaon connection the Madurai Bengaluru service and the Chennai Vijayawada train. This strategic enhancement covers a total of eight Vande Bharat Express trains within the railway zone, reflecting a concerted effort to streamline travel and ensure better utilization of available accommodation on these premium trains.
This crucial modification is poised to significantly improve seat occupancy rates across the Vande Bharat network.
