Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Shobha Karandlaje today launched the country’s first indigenously manufactured airport runway rubber and paint removal equipment system, “CleanJet.” Developed by Bengaluru-based MSME company Anlon Technology Solutions Limited, this advanced, high-precision equipment marks a pivotal moment in India’s journey towards self-reliance in aviation infrastructure.
This innovation not only strengthens domestic manufacturing but also contributes to the efficiency and safety of airport operations, paving the way for more sustainable and eco-friendly urban environments. The newly launched equipment, officially named the Runway Rubber and Paint Removal Equipment System (RRPRES), is a groundbreaking development as it is the first of its kind to be entirely designed and manufactured within India. Historically, India has relied heavily on imports for such specialized aviation equipment, making this indigenous solution a substantial leap forward. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has already placed orders for four of these CleanJet systems, earmarked for deployment at key airports in Agartala, Kolkata, and Chennai, signifying a direct impact on major aviation hubs.
Anlon Technology Solutions Limited, with its 19 years of expertise, developed this sophisticated product through a strategic technology transfer agreement with Germany’s Bucher Corporation. This collaboration exemplifies how Indian MSMEs are leveraging global partnerships to indigenously produce high-tech solutions. Anlon has also successfully developed similar equipment for the upcoming Noida International Airport and Cochin International Airport, further demonstrating its growing capabilities and market penetration in the aviation equipment manufacturing sector. The company holds the distinction of being the first MSME in India to venture into this highly specialized domain, setting a precedent for other domestic players.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje lauded Anlon’s remarkable achievement, expressing immense pride in the development of such a specialized and technical product that will significantly strengthen the country’s aviation infrastructure. This indigenous manufacturing capability reduces India’s dependence on foreign suppliers, enhances supply chain resilience, and creates domestic employment opportunities, all critical facets of the ‘Make in India’ vision. Beyond the CleanJet system, Anlon Technology has also diversified its indigenous manufacturing capabilities to include several other high-end products for both airport and urban development sectors, highlighting a broader commitment to innovation across critical infrastructure.
The introduction of the CleanJet system carries significant implications for operational efficiency and environmental sustainability in Indian airports. The accumulation of rubber deposits and paint markings on runways can impact aircraft braking performance and necessitate frequent maintenance. An efficient, indigenously produced removal system ensures quicker turnaround times for runway maintenance, enhancing safety standards, and potentially reducing the operational costs associated with importing and maintaining foreign equipment.
Furthermore, a cleaner and well-maintained runway contributes to optimised aircraft performance, which can indirectly lead to more fuel-efficient operations and reduced carbon emissions from flights. This aligns with global efforts to transition towards zero-net carbon aviation and creates a more eco-friendly airport ecosystem. The emphasis on indigenous development of such critical equipment also fosters technological self-reliance, paving the way for future innovations in aviation and urban infrastructure.
The success of Anlon Technology Solutions Limited exemplifies the potential of Indian MSMEs to contribute significantly to advanced manufacturing and the nation’s infrastructure development goals. Their foray into a niche, high-tech sector like aviation equipment manufacturing is a testament to the growing capabilities of India’s industrial base. This initiative is a crucial step towards building resilient, technologically advanced, and environmentally conscious cities across India, ensuring that modern infrastructure supports sustainable and equitable urban growth.
