India to Lead Global Electric Air Taxi Market by 2026

The Chief Commercial Officer of Archer Aviation, revealed this transformative vision during the ET World Leaders

Forum, underscoring the pivotal role these electric air taxis will play in alleviating urban congestion. Archer, a California-based company, has entered a strategic partnership with InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of IndiGo, to introduce these cutting-edge air taxis in India. The collaboration, valued at $1 billion, involves a joint venture to own and operate 200 Midnight aircraft. This ambitious project aims to address the mounting transportation challenges faced by Indian cities, offering a cleaner and quieter alternative to traditional modes of transport.

The Midnight aircraft, designed to carry four passengers, promises rapid, consecutive flights with minimal downtime between journeys. With the company nearing the final stages of securing approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States, Archer plans to replicate the success of IndiGo’s operational model in India. Trials are slated to commence next year, with full commercial operations anticipated by 2026, heralding a new era in urban mobility.
