The upgraded Rajmarg Pravesh portal was introduced by the Union road transport ministry this week, signalling a shift towards faster and more transparent NOC approvals for projects linked to the country’s expanding road network.
The Rajmarg Pravesh portal serves as a single-window system for securing No Objection Certificates required to access or connect to National Highways. With the latest overhaul, applications for fuel pumps, wayside amenities, private approach roads and rest area complexes can now be processed entirely online, with provisions for digital tracking and time-bound clearances.Officials familiar with the system say the platform also covers permissions for laying critical utilities such as water pipelines, gas lines, optical fibre cables and transmission infrastructure either along or across highway corridors. These approvals are essential for both public agencies and private developers working on logistics parks, industrial estates and roadside facilities.
India’s National Highway network has expanded rapidly over the past decade, driving demand for organised highway infrastructure that supports freight mobility and long-distance travel.
