India Foresees Doubled Electricity Demand by 2035 says Khattar

Chandigarh: Former Haryana Chief Minister and current Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, delivered a significant address at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, New Delhi, highlighting India’s escalating electricity demand projections and the imperative for strategic governance innovations.

Speaking at an event commemorating eight years of the Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (CMGGA) programme in Haryana, Khattar underscored that by 2035, India’s current electricity demand is anticipated to double, necessitating robust infrastructural developments and proactive policy frameworks. Emphasizing the role of new and young professionals in addressing governance challenges, Khattar stressed the criticality of visionary leadership in steering India towards sustainable energy solutions. Senior officials and former CMGGA associates present at the event highlighted key achievements, including the establishment of over 660 antyodaya saral centres and the successful implementation of pivotal state schemes such as the Haryana Online Transfer Policy and the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana.

The CMGGA programme, initiated in 2016, has emerged as a pioneering district fellowship initiative aimed at enhancing governance efficiency and public service delivery across Haryana. By engaging young professionals as associates, the programme seeks to inject fresh perspectives and innovative solutions into governance practices. Reflecting on his tenure as Haryana’s Chief Minister, Khattar recounted initial governance challenges and lauded the transformative impact of initiatives introduced under his leadership. These efforts, facilitated in part by the contributions of CMGGA associates, have significantly improved administrative effectiveness and citizen-centric service delivery.

These initiatives have positively impacted millions of citizens and underscored the programme’s role in bridging government-citizen interfaces. The event served as a platform to celebrate past successes while reaffirming commitments to fostering inclusive development and responsive governance practices in Haryana and beyond. As India navigates complex energy challenges and prepares for substantial demographic shifts, insights shared at the event showed the importance of collaborative efforts between government, industry, and civil society in shaping a sustainable and resilient future for all.
