India is poised to strengthen its national digital backbone as BharathCloud announces a strategic partnership with global real estate advisory firm JLL to develop AI-ready sovereign cloud infrastructure. The initiative aims to establish distributed cloud centres across major metropolitan regions and select international locations, with a projected investment of $100 million over five years, pending regulatory clearances.
The programme seeks to create high-performance, secure cloud centres designed for next-generation workloads, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, 5G, and Internet of Things applications. Urban technology experts note that establishing localised, sovereign cloud infrastructure is critical for reducing latency, enhancing data security, and supporting public and private sector digital initiatives across Indian cities. BharathCloud plans an initial deployment in key metros such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Delhi NCR, with expansion into emerging technology hubs including Vizag, Jaipur, Coimbatore, and Kochi. The collaboration with JLL focuses on optimising colocation site selection, design consultancy, and long-term portfolio efficiency.
